floorplanFor the next three weeks, Jeff and company hold up in their offices and drill into the critical job of costing out new home construction. Every stud, shingle, window etc. is priced.  With the aid of special software, even the construction adhesive used to glue the plywood to wood joists is factored in.  Prices are obtained from contractors for HVAC, painting, and plumbing plus special fixtures and appliances.

The trickiest part of costing out any home is labor, especially unique features required for high-end construction to make the home uniquely your own. Labor is where Jeff says “art meets science.” To nail these costs, Lane draws on twenty years of experience where time was carefully tracked for thousands of operations and entered into spreadsheets. Current hourly rates are applied and when Jeff emerges from his office, Lane knows with unusual precision the cost of your dream home.
